John was probably born in Maryland. He appears with Edward Sirman on tax records for Hyde County, North Carolina, for the 1749-1752 period. According to his 1777 will which was made in Pitt County, North Carolina, he had the following children: Eunice Sirmon English, Nelly Sirmon Barber, Mary Sirmon Martin(?), Levy Sirmon, Eli Sirmon, and Betty Sirmon. Levi Sirmon served in the Revolutionary War and then moved on to Georgia. He had a son named Nathan Sirmon (b. 1786) who served in the War of 1812 and then about 1816 Nathan moved to Conecuh County, Alabama, where he died in 1850. Nathan had the following children: Levi Sirmon, John Henning Sirmon, Richard P. Sirmon, Daniel Taylor Sirmon, Martha Sirmon Mixon, Eleanor Sirmon, and Elizabeth Jane Sirmon Weaver. Descent through Nathan's son Daniel Taylor Sirmon.

#2 20955 Edward Sirman
Edward was probably born in Maryland about 1720-1730 before moving to North Carolina about 1750. He appears with John Sirmon on tax records for Hyde County, North Carolina, for the 1749-1752 period. By 1790 Edward and his son, Josiah, had moved to Effingham County, Georgia, and Edward's son Jonathan was on the 1790 U. S. Census for Orangeburg District, South Carolina. Edward died in Bulloch County, Georgia, in 1805. His son Jonathan eventually moved to Mississippi around 1811. Jonathan's son Josiah had a son William Buchanan. Descent through William Buchanan's son Lee Sirman.

#3 21449 Richard Surman
Richard may have been born in Eldersfield, Worcestershire circa 1520. The first S*rm*n to be mentioned in the Court Rolls for Tredington, Gloucestershire was Richard in 1543 when he took over property previously occupied by the BICK family. He died in 1563 and in his Will mentions his brother William, cousins in Eldersfield (children of Walter who died in 1546) and his children Thomas, Elizabeth and John. Thomas c.1543-1621 was a husbandman/Yeoman in Tredington and had 11 children:- Thomas 1564, Ann 1565-1621, Elizabeth 1568, Thomas 1574-1647, Agnes d: 1574, Richard 1578-1579, Margaret d: 1582, John d: 1612, Margaret 1582-1637, Prudence ?-1639 and Joan. In his Will he also mentions John, Isabel and Joan Surman, children of his brother John.

William Surmon of Eldersfield, Worcestershire. Will dated October 1542. In this he is described as William Surmon senior. He mentions his wife Jone, sons John & William and daughter Julian also grandaughter Margaret, daughter of his son John. Not mentioned were his other children named Florins and Joan. Earlier paperwork shows William Surmon a freeholder in Eldersfield in 1460.

Eli had a son William Sermons who was born ca. 1800 in North Carolina. He had a son Elias Sermons who was born ca. 1824. Descent through Elias' son Henry Sermons who was born in 1856.

He had one known son named John who is now refered to as John the Younger to distinguish him from the older John shown above who is refered to as John the Elder. John had a son named Pernal Johnson Sirman b. 1801 in North Carolina. Pernal had a son named James Houston b. 1838. Descent through James Houston's son Emery McClinton Sirmans.

Edward was born about 1638 and arrived on the Eastern Shore of Virginia about 1648 before moving to Somerset County, Maryland, where he married Anne Frowin in 1664. Edward and Anne had four sons: Thomas [1663], Edward [1666-1668], Edward [1669], and Peter [1672]. Edward [1669] named one son Job, who was born around 1700. Job moved to Delaware, where he had eight known children, one of whom was named Louder [1737]. Louder named one of his sons Louder, Jr.[ca. 1770]. One of the sons of Louder, Jr. was named James R. Sirman [ca. 1811]. James had a son named Benjamin M. Sirman [1840]. Descent is through Benjamin's son William E. Sirman [b. 1877].

Jonathan's son Josiah had a son Freeling Huysan. Descent through Huyson's son Jesse.

Sirmans 1884. Descent through Lewis N. Sirmans.
