Rock 'N Roll Music Sites

By Robin Nobles (8/7/98)

The Internet is brimming with information about music of all kinds. In this article though, we'll concentrate on good old rock 'n roll.

Let's begin at Rock on the Net, where you'll discover the latest news about your favorite artists, music charts, new releases, and even tour schedules. Look over their listing of the greatest rock 'n' roll artists to learn more about your favorites.

At Rocktropolis, you'll find featured artist reviews, hosted chat rooms, or the latest news in the world of music. Search their site by artist, album, song, or article. Or, visit one of their bulletin boards to post a message.

For a comprehensive music site that features other music genres besides just than rock 'n roll, visit the Ultimate Band List. Categories include Music News, Concert Information, Record Labels, On-Line Events, and Charts. Look over their top 100 chart, or visit their music store and order online!

At the History of Rock and Roll, you'll learn how rock and roll evolved and the types of music that influenced it. The page "begins with the African musical traits brought here beginning in 1619 and attempts to trace their fusion with the European music brought here by the colonists."

Visit the Rolling Stones Network and click on the Gallery to view 30 years of covers from Rolling Stone Magazine. Under Recordings, you'll find reviews of the latest records. Or, stop by Video on Demand where you can choose from hundreds of full-length music videos to download.

At the International Lyrics Server, you'll find the lyrics to over 93,000 songs! The site is searchable, or you can view their top-ten song lyrics.

Jam TV is an impressive site that offers the latest music news as well as featured artists. In the Virtual Venue, you can watch "live" shows from performers like Chavez or the Pretenders. Or, you can participate in their online chat sessions.

At iMusic, click on Charts to view their Internet Music Charts. You'll find music charts for the Top 100, Contemporary Artists, Modern Rock Artists, Rock Artists, Top 25 Requested Tours, and much more. Or, learn what the top-selling albums are by category. The website also features bulletin boards and chat rooms where you can visit with other music lovers.

Finally, MusicSearch is a search engine devoted strictly to music. A search for "lyrics" produced 228 results!
