A Special NoteOver the past thirty some odd years, I have been fortunate to have had the opportunity to meet many descendants from many different lines of our S*rm*n family. In the early years when I first became interested in our family history, there were several family members who were older than I and who freely shared their research with me to help me get started with my research on the family. To all of them, I have always been thankful. Although Rita Bowen came later, she holds a special place in my memory as one of the truly outstanding family historians. The work that she did was absolutely first rate. Never do I remember her stating a relationship as fact without the supporting documentation. We wrote many letters and emails back and forth beginning in the early 1990's and continuing until her last illness prevented her from doing so. How I miss her keen and analytical mind. How I wish our younger family members would become interested and follow in the footsteps of Rita. Thank you, Rita, for those wonderful and rewarding years. Bill Sirmon |
