Documentation is presented below for Peter (1672) and his family and their migration to North Carolina prior to 1750. These Lists are helpful in showing when Peter's descendants may have left Maryland for the Hyde and Beaufort Counties in North Carolina. Peter (1672) is the youngest son of the immigrant Edward (1638/40) at Wyre Piddle, UK.

Listed next is John Sermon with Geo. Austin [Osten] in the household. In the Somerset Judicial Records, 1733-1735 Geo. Osten, son of Joseph Osten, late of Somerset Co. deceased of his own free and voluntary consent bound an apprentice by the court unto a certain John Sirman, joyner, until the said George Osten arrives at the age of 21 years. The said term during which he will learn the trade of carpenter and joyner... Security for John Sirmon is Thomas Gillis. In the inventory of John Sirmon is a chest of Joyner's tools, a saw, 1 Bible, 2 old books, box of scales & weights, 1 desk & others. John Noble is next door. Next is John Serman with George Astons [Osten] in his household. The Noble and Mitchell families are still near by. Also near by we find Edward Sirman and five doors from him is Jeane Sirman. "The land....called Tony's Vineyard was recalled by one Peter Sermon (aed abut 64 years) in September 1736, when he made a deposition in realtion to the boundaries of the tract called Tony's Vineyard on Wicomico Creek. 1749 Wicomico Peter Surman [Jr.] No Peter listed after 1749. It appears that Peter, Jr. has left and gone to Hyde, County, North Carolina, where he appears on a Tax Roll taken for about 1750. See below. Microfilm

20 Jul 1677 CANTERBURY Patented by John Parsons who assigned to Alexander Mitchell, 50 acres in West Princess Ann, Election district 1. The will of Edward, Peter's father, was probated on 10 Jan 1676. His mother, Anne Frowin Sermon, married Alexander Mitchell on 14 Nov 1676.

16 Dec 1734 HORSEYS CHANCE John Mitchell sold to Peter Sirman Sr. 100 acres all moity given John Mitchell by his father John, who left it to sons Richard Mitchell and John Mitchell, with CANTERBURY. It appears that the oldest son Alexander must have died leaving John as the next in line. The John Mitchell selling the land would be the half brother or nephew of Peter Sirman Sr.
16 Dec 1734 CANTERBURY John Mitchell sold to Peter Surman Sr. all the moiety given John by his father being 1/2 of that John left to sons Richard Mitchell and John Mitchell, CANTERBURY & HORSEYS CHANCE, 100 ACRES. (50 acres) Peter's mother was Anne Frowin Sermon, wife of Edward Sermon the immigrant, who married Alexander Mitchell. Therefore, John Mitchell (1684) would be the half-brother of Peter.
15 Jan 1735 HORSEYS CHANCE Resurveyed to include CANTERBURY 201 acres by Alexander Adams and Peter Sirman. -
15 Oct 1748 CANTERBURY Peter Surman and wife Mary Surman sold to Thomas Gillis 13 acres with parts of TROUBLE,CRAMBURNE,HORSEYS CHANCE. This Peter would be Peter, Jr. the son of Peter and the grandson of Edward the immigrant. His wife Mary would be the daughter of Isaac Noble. See Isaac Noble's will where he names his daugter the wife of Peter Surman. It appears that Peter, Jr. is selling his land in preparation for leaving Wicomico and moving to Hyde County, North Carolina.
15 Oct 1748 CRAMBURN Peter Surman son of Peter, and wife Mary Surman, sold 50 acres to Thomas Gillis of CABBIN RIDGE conveyed by George Goddard to Peter Surman, father of Peter, being part of CRAMBURN and also another 50 acres of CRAMBURN, with TROUBLE, HORSEYS CHANCE & CANTERBURY. Same
15 Oct 1748 HORSEYS CHANCE Peter Sirman and wife Mary Sirman sold to Thomas Gillis 187 acres, with TROUBLE CRAMBURN,CANTERBURY. Same

Peter Sirman 3 0 torn This would be Peter, Jr., who last appears in Wicomico, MD on the 1748 tax records.
John Sirman 1 0 1 John would appear to be either an older son of Peter, Jr. or a son of Peter, Jr.'s brother, John. My guess is that he is most likely the son of John and nephew of Peter, Jr. but it cannot be determined at this time.
Thomas Sirman, Sr. 1 0 1 This appears to be Thomas (1696) the son of Edward, Jr. (1669)--moved to Beaufort, NC.
Edward Sirman 1 0 1 This appears to be the oldest son of Thomas (1696) and named for Edward (1669).
