"Cold, gray, winter rain, falling on concrete. Ray Bradbury rain." (Nevada Barr)

"Through the window, opening unto stairs leading up the hill to the other building, Anna could see that a thin drizzle had started. Cold, gray, winter rain, falling on concrete. Ray Bradbury rain."

SOURCE: "Blind Descent" (Nevada Barr)

Nevada Barr has created a wonderful character in Anna Pigeon, the "intrepid National Park Service ranger." The quote is from "Blind Descent" that concerns a murder deep in Lechuguilla, a recently discovered mammoth cave near Carlsbad Caverns in New Mexico. Barr's works resonate with acute observations of character and terrain. The idea of a Ray Bradbury rain seems so supremely apt for some inexplicable reason.
