Rain - Blue Rain

An older image from Voshan Galleries, which is no longer available. Searching will produce any number of pages listing the address, telephone number and exhibits, but no web address.

I do know that the artist is Carol Jessen, who has created a number of other paintings that I've used. Now that I think of it, her works may be the only paintings I've used as opposed to photos.

Her site is well worth a review. There any number of images of rainy streets with walkers holding umbrellas. Her use of vibrant colors make the streets seem alive; a contrast to many rain images that conjure up a sense of melancholy.

Camille

I'd told the vet last week that I would not be able to pay until Tuesday of this week. Tuesday, I paid the bill, and as I headed for the door, I noticed a poster that said to ask about their cats in need of adoption. They said they had several.

The first one they brought out was a beautiful three-year old Calico, and I was immediately smitten. They said she had been found along the Interstate with a broken tale which had to be amputated.

I knew this was going to be a big change for her, so when I got her home, I figured she would disappear into that void that cats disappear into. And indeed she did within minutes. I finally found her behind a door I'd removed from the living room to the kitchen that was leaning against the wall in the room I using for storage.

When I returned from lunch, she had moved under a chest, and several hours later she was hiding behind the stove. I set a dish of food and water nearby. I'll leave it to her to decide what she wants to do.

I was not sure how her presence would influence the other kitties. Tiger, Tiger had a damn fit. And did all the things a cat does when they are displeased with another cat. He was in such a state that he then started harassing Minerva and Athena. At this point, I realized, I'd put off having him fixed for too long. From what I've read on-line, once fixed, he will stop the spraying routine. I'm sure there's not a spot in the house he has not sprayed once. In fact, as I was headed for lunch today, I noticed a stain on my Ireland cap and recognized it as a spray stain. Ahhhhhhhh!!!

I called the vet to find out about having him fixed, and they mentioned they can't take any pet who has not had the prescribed shots, which he has not. The shots and the neutering would cost $200+. Which I don't really have.

Respiratory Problems

In my entry of 2008-0326-1130-wed, I mentioned having an upper respiratory problem. And that I'd gotten a re-fill of my prescription for Factive. However, by the weekend, I figured out, it was not working. I was feeling listless, very congested, and running a low-grade fever.

Yesterday, I went back to the clinic. The doctor said to stop the Factive and the antihistamine (Xyzal). He prescribed a more potent antibiotic, Avelox, and a decongestant, Allegra-D. I also got an injection of Rocephin, which is another potent antibiotic.

This evening. for the first time in weeks, I feel better. But very tired. And I have no desire to do anything. I had to force myself to write this entry.

Home Renovation

Nothing has happened in about three weeks. The worst is the bathroom floor that has water under the linoleum. Every time, I go in, I can hear the squish of water. But it will have to wait until I feel better.

Moola or the lack thereof

A summation of expenses is in order. The fees for Hermes were $325 and $75 for Camille. This visit to the doctor yesterday cost $121. And I'd been there two weeks ago with a tummy bug; a visit that cost $102.Throw in six or seven prescription, and you have a total of $450. So between the pets and my maladies, I've put out around $850 in the last three weeks.
