This is an older image from the vault. The home site is "Everyday Better Living - Welcome! - Tips on Love, Love, Passion, Lasting Romance, Dating, Infidelity, Wedding, Romantic Vacations". I'm not sure how the photo is linked to the page. It may have been used at one time, then dropped. It appears to be an image from the late 60s, certainly in terms of the woman's fashions. Curiously, the cars do not appear to be of the same era. I tried to think of 60s cars, and these don't seem to fit. The other option, of course, is that it is too hard to make a clear distinction.
The second image is of Ethan (Fabrizio Filippo) and Justin (Randy Harrison) of "Queer as Folk" (North American TV series) engaged in a splendidly romantic kiss.
I used a second coat of satin MPC Color Match of Valspar™ EE2018B Pebblestone on the west wall. I'd noticed that all the flaws of the crack repair were noticeable. Obviously, the spackling was not sanded properly. I went through two or three more iterations of this, and the problem never got any better. This afternoon, I started a slow process of scrapping the area down to the sheet rock. (Still not finished.) Then I will carefully sand. Then apply several coats of primer, followed by several coats of paint and hope that will solve the problem.
The bookcases are planned for the north wall. I want two 7-foot units on either side with a credenza-like piece of the same style for the middle. I'm after something very minimalstic; very devoid of ornamentation; wood, not particle board; and something I don't have to put together. Is that asking too much. Apparently, so. I visited Pier One, two furniture stores and an office supply place this afternoon. Actually, the office supply place had the closest look, but it's particle board. Yesterday, I visited one of the largest stores in the southeast - Miskelly's, which is literally around the corner from where I live and measures in at 120,000 square feet, all on one floor. It is a mammoth store. And the circulation paths are diagonal, curved or meandering. There are multiple sections with walls between, so you can't stand in one spot and hope to see what you passed ten minutes ago. Some items are roughly in the same place, but others may be anywhere. I told one of the clerks what I wanted and off we went, spiraling around the store. I wanted to ask, "You wouldn't mind, if I use by brilliant orange, indelible marker to mark the path we're taking." (Today, when I mentioned my trip, one of the people at the first furniture store wanted to know if I dropped bread crumbs behind me.) They have bookcases that sorta match my criteria, but they are cherry. I want something that is going to be very nondescript, and I still have my little mind set on jet black. The points of colors will be the antique oak furniture, the wall hangings and the two love seats I'm planning to buy. They do have a large selection of love seats, but they all are in neutral colors. I know I can special order. But that's just another layer to the process. By the way, after about 30 minutes, it struck me that I should be taking photos with my phone camera. The shots at 2 megapixels would not be great, but they would help to jog my memory.
I did come across one piece that was so literally dazzling that I had to take a photo of it. It was a mirrored chest that would be the perfect piece for a drag queen's boudoir. (Bottom photo at left.) (In Saturday - 2008-0301-2200 / Out - 2008-0302-0100) This entry was written in a single setting. Pax! Erin go braugh! Je accuse...
