This photo by the renowned photographer, Brassaï , has been resting in my archives for some time.It is from the site - kyopo.com | experience the power of communication. Whenever I search for Brassaï on the web, I'm always disappointed that there is no definitive site. For one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century, you have to find your information in bits and pieces. Even the Wikipedia site Brassaï suffers from a lack of depth. What is really depressing is that there are possibly thousands of sites for Brittany Spears. (I have no idea of the actual number, and I fucking refuse to lower myself to look.) The most exhaustive text site appears to be About.com: Brassaï - Eyes of Paris. One of the best gallery sites is BRASSAI - PHOTOGRAPHS. Let's make that "arguably one ..." Although the layout of the site has a certain panache, the pages are images from a book, which is printed in a very faint gray type on a white background. Even an eagle-eyed elf would have trouble reading the print. Another gallery site is Masters of Photography: Brassai. Which I mention with a considerable degree of reluctance because of its pop-up/under/over ads, animated banners, and a column of ads down the left side. If you notice on the first linked page, you will find a photo of the wonderful lady below. She has always been one one of my favorites. She goes by many titles: "Bijou" of the Montmartre cabarets"; "La prostituée Bijou"; "La Môme Bijou"; "Miss Diamonds, Bar de la Lune, Montmartre." Although her ephemeral finery attracts, it is that magnificent almost masculine face and those diamond eyes that tell of the folly of the asundered heart and the squandering of love and sex.
