Sleeping

I think I slept a lot. Because putting up the patio blinds had strained some muscle groups that felt irritated.

Cat maintenance and household chores in general

And during the course of any day I spend a lot of time with cat maintenance; Britney Spears has nothing on this group. And the recurring, recurring, recurring household chores. And after a certain point this can become very tiring.

Computer stuff

I spent most of the day trying to unscramble the journal files. Doing a journal to reflect a specific previous date adds a level of complexity that can easily become confusing. It looks like I criss crossed file names and several of the days reported. And I kept getting it wrong.

I'm also having a problem that the processing becomes slower and slower. I've deleted files from the recycle bin. I've cleaned up the caches in Firefox. I noticed a real problem with this html editor, I wondered if it was attempting to hold everything in storage within a directory. This is what DreamWeaver does. So I created directories for each year and moved files accordingly. Then I did a search for *.tmp files which I then deleted and then cleared the recycle bin. And I've changed the system settings to allow the computer to determine the best settings for processor time, program memory usage, virtual memory, etc.

I've also limited the number of programs that start at start up. I've eliminated programs from installed programs lists. And I've gone on-line to check for ways to speed up XP, but the info can be very contradictory: yes, no, maybe, absolutely not, don't even think about it, send me $50 and I'll share secrets of the universe with you.

A friend has called asking about lunch but I was in the midst of trying to wrestle the files back into conformity, so I declined. But later I called and suggested dinner.

Specific household chores

Around 1500, I stopped and turned myself to bed making, some vacuuming, taking laundry from the dryer, adding laundry to the dryer and adding laundry to the washer. I wonder if there's a single unit that you would wash and then dry without human intervention. I always seem to have a load of washed laundry that really needs to go into the dryer. Or a load of dried laundry that needs to be brought inside, in fact that's the case now.

I also managed to squeeze in some raking. And then after dinner some more raking.

Friend's new car / side comment on analyticals and interrogatives

My friend had recently gotten a new car, which I'd not seen. And I kept forgetting to ask about. So I took a note card and wrote in bold, black print: "Show me your new car!" When I showed up, I immediately stuck it in his face, and he said what's wrong with you voice. Then he realized what I'd done. Nice use of the imperative sentence , I thought Usually my statements interrogative.

(I once went through an exercise on social styles about how styles and patterns of speech match. There are four types: drivers, analytical; amiables and expressives. Analyticals most of the time will phrase everything as a question. The exercise was to reverse that, analyticals could not ask questions. The first thing out of my mouth was, "Are you saying I can't ask questions?")

Din din

Since we were going to Outback, I was at his house at 4:30. I've never seen the placed uncrowded. We were there no later than 5, and there was already a line. But we've learned to grab a table in smoking which are perfect for two people. So many of the parties that come in want 4, 5, 6 or more places.

I had crawfish, shrimp, and mushroom (plus some other items I don't remember) covered tilapia and a sweet potato. (Jesus I just spelled this "potatoe." Curses on Dan Quayle.) Desert was a mound of vanilla ice cream covered with a chocolate crust and coconut flakes. Usually, there are some strawberries, but the kitchen was sloppy. (Out - Saturday - 20070428 - 1807: $26.86 - Bank Debit Card)

Rest of the evening

I don't remember watching tv, but I do see an assortment of files that were modified last night. So seemingly that's what I did. Oh, yes, I added several more events to a number of files.

"Killing Rain"

"Killing Rain" held my attention for about 20 minutes before I went to sleep.
