Buckely's Comments about the Iraq War Failure at YouTube; Farrell and Leto at YouTube In the last entry, I mentioned the various listings at NNDB of who is reportedly gay, straight, bi, and those fall into the "Matter of Dispute" category. One person that I thought would be in the last category was Tom Selleck. But he's not. His listing says he's straight and mentions wives, kids and a girlfriend. All of which means nothing. It's forgotten that Rock Hudson was married to his agent's secretary. Or that Elton John was married to one of his sound engineers. Oddly enough, even though I live in one of the most conservative states, there have been more than a few individuals who fit the "matter of dispute" case. Just recently, a former Congressman, Sonny Montgomery died, but rumours had circulated for years that he was gay. Several years ago, Ray Mabus was elected governor. And many were the rumours about him. There was even talk that the two daughters were secretly adopted. Several years ago, he and his wife divorced. They sought counseling, together and individually, from a local Episcopal priest. What came out later was that the priest recorded the conversations with the wife for the ex-governor. After that it was revealed that the priest was defrocked for his sexual behaviour. The priest's wife, also a priest, in turn, divorces him, and runs off and then marries and divorces the youth choir director. (I know there was a lawsuit here, but I can remember the outcome.) The governor prior to Ray Mabus was Bill Allain who as Wikipedia indicates was reported to have had sex with black male transvestite prostitutes. As I remember at the time, some friends said it was common knowledge that he was bi. In the late 70s, Jon Hinson was elected to the House of Representatives. The first inkling of the revelation of unknown facts was his announcement that he had given a deposition about a fire at a gay Washington theatre in which nine people were killed. During his re-election campaign, he "admitted that he had been arrested for committing an obscene act, exposing himself to an undercover policeman, at the Iwo Jima Memorial." (If you were to glance at a guide for crusing spots in the DC area, it would list the Iwo Jima Memorial as AYOR - At Your Own Risk. People have been murdered at the memorial.) "Hinson, who was then married to Cynthia Hinson, was arrested on February 4, 1981 and he was charged with oral sodomy for performing oral sex on a male employee of the Library of Congress in the restroom of the House of Representatives." To be honest, I'm not sure what to say to all this. One obvious fact is that homophobia and denial permeate our society. Buckley is among the founders of the American conservative movement. Yet, he has few kind words for George W. See WILLIAM F BUCKLEY - IRAQ WAR A FAILURE. To paraphrase: "If you had a European prime minister that experienced what we've experienced, it would be expected that he would retire or resign. ... I think [the Administration] has been engulfed by Iraq. By which I mean, no other subject interests anybody but Iraq. ... I think his [foreign policy] legacy is indecipherable." I came across an incredible music video at YouTube - Colin Farrell & Jared Leto Music Video. Ultymo has edited together a number of clips from Farrell's and Leto's films to make a video about two characters, played by Colin and Jared, that share a gay relationship. It is superbly done. If you didn't know it was a construct, you'd think it was the genuine article. (Posted 061216: Video has been removed for copyright violation.) PAX!
