contours provocations
journal - 2006-0228 - tue 2200 Phrenilin; Posters, Masks and Stone Reproductions I've felt congested for the last couple of days. No doubt, because the weather has been hot, then cold, then rainy, then hot, etc. I noticed I was feeling tired over the weekend. And yesterday morning, when I woke up, I had a sore throat and a mind-altering headache. I figured this was not going to get any better on its own, so off to the clinic I went. Being a Monday, it was packed as I feared. I waited almost 2 hours before seeking the doctor. He gave me some sample antibiotics, antihistamine, and nasal spray. And then he asked if I wanted something for the headache. A first, since I don't ever recall this happening before. He prescribed Apap/Butalbital (brand name -Phrenilin. A most intersting drug if there ever was one. I took two when I got home and drifted off to la la land for an indefinited period of time. Phrenilin consists of acetaminophen, butalbital, caffeine, codeine phosphate. According to NIH, "Butalbital belongs to the group of medeicines called barbiturates (bar-BI-tyoo-rates)." The Apap seems to indicate the presence of acetaminophen. After sleeping for 4 or 5 hours, I can definitely see how this could be very desirable drug on the blackmarket. In fact in doing a Google, I found places from the Czech Republic to the UK to Russia to who knows where. It certainly got rid of the headache. This morning when I work up I felt slighly disoriented, but otherwise ok. But after lunch I took another done and woke about 5. But I didn't know day it was or what I'd done. I finally figured out it was Tuesday, that I'd gone to lunch, and checked for mail and fed the cats. But gosh that was a struggle. For a long period, I just could not remember having lunch. The next time I take one, it only be ONE. I've made considerable headway in ogranizing things. Now anytime I come across an object, I can easily place it in the right box, tub or container. Yesterday, I took down tow large paintings in the living room that I've never like. They both are scenes of French 18th century peasants filling water jars at fountain and basins. The story behind their purchase is beyond me. They're going to be placed by a George Okeeffe and two Veroy Vigil print. I've also got three papier-mache maks I want to hang - a fox, a pands and a sunburst. And four stone reproductions - A leopard from an Egpyptian cleok buckle found in the tomb of Tutankhamun' a 17th century panel of Benin warriors; The letter "S" from 12th century St. John's Cambridge; and a Green Man from St Swithen's building, Madgalen College. And a premier 5-sized Art Deco beveled mirror that is in almost perfect condition. Maybe, if don't feel like a zombiod, I'll be able to arrange them. PAX!
