Keys; C.S. Lewis; Media Unit - Part III; "Deaf Child"

For the last couple of days, I've felt sapped by allergies. This morning I got up a couple of times and went back to bed again. And did not really get up to go out until 12:30 or so.

One of the times when I was up, I set the laptop on my lap and positioned my chair next to the cabinets under the front windows. The cabinets are about three feet high, and the top holds pottery, books, glass paperweights and a collection of wooden cats. And the top is also a favorite place for the real kitties. Just as I sat down, Tiger, Tiger made a mad leap for the top, missed and grabbed at the keyboard and managed to rip off two keys.

I gathered up all the tiny parts and tried to reattach the keys to the keyboard to no avail. I can see a set of very tiny brackets that some how hold the wires or junctions that in turn connect to the keys. But I never could figure out what when where.

At lunch, I thought I'd be virtuous and have a grilled chicken salad. I ate about a third and decided I didn't want any more.

As I ate, I read an article in "The New Yorker" about C.S. Lewis. What a contradictory and complex individual!

My attention was struck by one paragraph in particular.

"An old Oxford tradition claims that Bertrand Russell, on being asked why his concerns had turned so dramatically from academic philosophy, repliec, with great dignity, "Because I discovered fucking." So did Lewis, only he was older."

I'm at the halfway point in the assembly of the media unit. It seems to have far more pieces of wood than are needed. There are 12 types of connectors, each one for a different location. The 20-page manual is printed in English, Spanish and French.

But the instructions and diagrams are easy to follow. As long as you pay careful attention.

On the way home from a quick dinner, I noticed a traffic sign that said "Deaf Child Area." Curious. Certainly something I've never encountered before.

PAX!
