Thomas; Orlando; UTI

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Christmas night it is. And a low-key day it has been.

This was one of the first Decembers in a long time that I was not besieged with a dread of Christmas.

It may have been because I did my shopping early and limited my gift buying. It has always been difficult to find a gift for mother. But this year, I had told her about a documentary I'd seen about Harrods. So in a strange moment of inspiration, I thought, "why not get something from Harrods."

I figured they were bound to have an assortment of holiday gifts, and indeed they did. From Harrods Champagne to Jewellery to Condiments and Preserves to Christmas Decorations. All of which was a bit much.

Then I came across Thomas, the 2004 Christmas Bear. So I registered and read through a long page about prices, VAT, delivery fees and delivery insurance charges. Then placed my order.

In about a week, a dark green shipping bag appeared at the PO. I was amazed that it would be shipped in just a bag. But it was safe and sound. I didn't open it because I wanted her to see the bag intact.

One little thing. I guess in all my excitement, I forgot to translate sterling to dollars. When the credit card bill arrived, I had to grab the smelling salts, because Thomas turned out to be one expensive little darling.

Thomas and I made the trip to momsy's this morning around 10:30. She loved him! A very handsome bear he is. Her cat though, took a couple of sniffs and disappeared into the kitchen.

I had a bad case of Tolkien withdrawal syndrome today. For the past three Christmases, I had the heady experience of lossing myself in the LOTR.

I was able to console myself to some degree by starting "Fellowship of the Ring" on DVD last night. I did an hour yesterday, and another hour today. I'm too hyper to sit longer than that.

By the way, I think I would kill to look like Orlando Bloom as Leoglas. I could not take my eyes off him. What is it like to be that gorgeous!?

Alas, this would be the week I would come down with a urinary tract infection. Tuesday night I noticed the first signs. So Wednesday morning I was very fortunate to get to see the doctor around 9. He gave me a prescription for Levaquin. So I think I caught it before it became too bad.

In May I had a bout of this and wished someone would just shot me.

This time the most I've noticed is fatigue.

PAX!
