Stamps; Vote for Change

Over the weekend, an Amazon purchase order had come in. I took the package to work yesterday intending to mail it at lunch. But somewhere along the line, I realized it was Columbus' Day. A holiday that is totally ignored here save for federal offices and banks.

Today I stopped off at the PO to mail the package and check my box, which was empty. (A couple of moths flew out when I opened it.) Since I was almost out of stamps, I thought I'd buy some more. The PO has a selection of commemoratives on display. Most customers buy stamps at the counter and come away with tiny square serviceable items. But the real beauties are the commemoratives.

Among the offerings was a set called the "Art of the American Indian. They are minature works of art. Alas, the on-line images do not do them justice. The actual stamps are far more striking.

Last night was one of those when I could not go to sleep. Finally after midnight, I slipped off. Only to wake around 3 and stay awake until after 4.

I came into the living room and watched part of a repeat of Vote for Change final concert in Washington DC on the Sundance Channel. It was on earlier on both Sundance channels, and I wish I'd watched more of it.

One of the groups I caught was REM, and Michael Stipe looked radiant in his white suit. Michael lacks physical features that would place him in the "looker" category. But it may very be that null-set quality that attracts me.

Having slept poorly last night, I feel very drowsy, so it's time to stop.

PAX!
