GI Distress; Beautiful Web Sites

Yesterday morning, I woke around 5 and could not go back to sleep. So I got up and surfed the web and finally got ready for work.

Around nine or so, I began to experience gastrointestinal symptoms to the point that I was spending more time in the bathroom than out. So I gathered my book bag and came home.

I took my antinausea medicine and went to bed. The nausea and diarrhea calmed down by mid-afternoon, but I still felt washed-out. I woke up and went back to sleep several times.

At one point I woke up and noticed that the clock said 8:01. My first thought was that I needed to call work and let them know I'd be out. Then I noticed how dark it was, but I figured there was a severe thunderstorm.

My brain went back and forth for about ten minutes before I decided it must be 8:01 pm. But it was a very puzzling ten minutes.

Today I stayed home and slept until around 3. Now I was hit by a bad case of cabin fever. Since I'd received a book order last night, I thought I'd trip off to the post office and mail it. Which I did and on the way back stopped at the deli and bought a chicken club.

Several hours ago as I bounced around on the web I thought about doing a search on "beautiful web sites." Google brought up a number of options that provided lists of sites. I visited numerous places but none really caught my fancy.

Too many had a flash home page. I have an intense adversion to the use of flash for the main page. Designers forget that you're going to see the presentation every time you visit the page.

None of the pages I visited could compare with the one at The Monastery of Christ in the Desert. It possesses a simple elegance that befits its subject.

PAX!
