The words of those who testify before Congress have an all-too-familiar ring to them. Phrases that echo those heard in the war trials of Nazi Germany.

A curious logic has appeared. One that stresses the negative impact of the revelations on the brave young American fighters. As though the deeds in the photos are of little consequence.

Expressions of denial have become the mantra of the executive office.

But no amount of renunciation can obscure a chain of responsibility that links to the Oval Office.
