Sick!; EVIL!

The last entry of five weeks ago was written on a Tuesday night when I was feeling decidely healthy. Alas, in the middle of the night I woke up with a sore throat. I scooted off to the doctor in mid-morn, and he gave me some antibiotics.

Saturday, I began to notice another problem which I suspected was a prostate infection. By Monday, I was very, very sick. Again, I headed for the doctor as soon as possible.

My temp was 102. The doctor said the urine analysis was terrible. He added that the temp and analysis indicated it was a severe kidney infection. He quickly prescribed a regime of 750 mg of Levequin for eight days followed by another four days at 500 mg. He also said that if I'd waited any longer I would have wound up in the hospital.

I was out from work for eight days, and even I when I went back the next Monday, I still felt exhausted.

How serious was this? It caused me to forfeit a life-long habit - drinking coke. And here it is five weeks later, and I've not had a drop. There's a pack of six sitting unopened in my refrigerator. If I wake up in the wee hours of the morning, I can hear it calling to me. There's a tiny whisper that sez, "Come! Enjoy! Remember when you were a kid, and a cold coke was heaven. Come on! Help the world to sing." By then, I'm clawing at the pillows like some druggie gone cold turkey.

Switching through the cable channels the other evening, I caught a brief segment with President Bush at a podium outside the White House. My disapproval has grown dramatically in the last few months; but for the first time, the word "EVIL" popped into my brain.

Although Richard Nixon was one of the scariest leaders of the free world; he pales in comparison to George W. Bush.

The situation in Iraq will be known as the Vietnam of the early 21st century. And George W. Bush will be remembered as one of, if not the, worst President in the history of the country.

PAX!
