contours provocations
journal - 2004-0406 - 2000 Sun; DST; Sun-lit Fog; Belami Clones; Walking; Fish and Veggie Burgers Yesterday as I headed for work, I was blinded by the early morning sun. It was just enough above the horizon to hit my windshield almost straight on. Of course, that's what you get when you play around with daylight savings time. In terms of sun time, it was only shortly after sun rise. By the way: I do not like daylight savings time. I don't like the idea of having to wait until past 8 for the sun to go down. If I wanted hours and hours of daylight, I'd have moved to the arctic circle. In summer, it means you have an extra hour of heat. And this is the reason that Arizona refuses to recognize daylight savings time. This morning, I didn't leave for work until around 7:45. So the sun was far enough up not to be a problem. A couple of blocks from my house, I encountered fog. The gray, smoke-like clouds hovered only a few feet off the ground and were backlit by the sun. I've tried to think if I'd ever encountered sunlit fog before, but I can come up with anything. I kept thinking of the fog in sci-fi movies. I wondered if it would suddenly engulf my car, and as it disappeared, I'd find myself on some alien world. Or in the cargo bay of a starship. And green-scaled beings would bring me cube-shaped purple and green fruit. "Can you send me back? I want to wait for the ship in which all the crew members are clones of Belami porn stars." Another two miles in the park this evening. It was as crowded as yesterday. And I managed to grab the last space in the parking lot. My pace today was less intense than yesterday. I need to time how long it takes to complete a circuit. Speaking of health-related items. I've stopped eating chicken and pork. I stopped eating beef several years ago. My initial concern was with the idea of consuming fellow mammals. But I've begun to think more about the health benefits. I've continued eating fish, especially tuna and salmon. And I've discovered a couple of veggie burgers that I really like. PAX! journal | archives | home | e-mail |
