"Wilde"; Early to Work!; Shopping!; C O O K I N G !

After finishing last night's entry, I felt exhausted, so off to bed I went. But, as expected, I could not go to sleep. So it was back to the living room.

This always seems to be the time that I actually watch tv, as opposed to having the tv on as I do something else.

There are several channels I always check out first: AMC, Bravo, Sundance East and West, the various HBOs and Showtimes. I headed for Sundance and discovered "Wilde."

What a superb production. Steven Fry was incredible as Wilde. Even though you know you're watching a movie, you feel he IS Wilde.

And then there was Jude Law as Lord Douglas! Has there ever been a more gorgeous bloke? Law's beauty bordered on the preternatural.

Vanessa Redgrave was there as Wilde's mother. She is a class act under any circumstance.

IMDB indicated that Ioan Gruffud and Orlando Bloom were also in the cast. But I must have come in too late.

Somehow I'd forgotten that the term "The love that dare not speaks its name" was associated with Wilde. And I'd definitely missed that the line originated with Lord Douglas.

After "Wilde" I tried to sleep, and again was unsuccesful. So again I moseyed back to the living room. And again I clicked on the tv. And there was "Wilde" on the other Sundance Channel. This time I got to see about 20 more minutes at the beginning.

Whenever I see a movie that involves the persecution of someone for being gay, I want to be able to transform into the Lavender Avenger and "let loose the dogs of war."

Around 5 this morning, the kitties woke me up. And that's not my imagination. One of them has learned to rattle the wooden venetion blinds which makes a terrible racket and always wakes me. It is very deliberate because it's the only time she does it. But she's learned it works. Devious little urchins they are.

By 7, I was winging my way to work. In a way I was glad to be early since I knew I'd be away from work for several hours in the afternoon to take momsy to the doctor.

As luck would have it, just as I'd get into the middle of one project, another would pop up. So I'd open another window on the computer. By noon, I noticed I had seven or eight projects open.

The visit to the doctor was very positive. All her indicators were fine. She is very fortunate to be as healthy as she is.

After work, I stopped at the new "discount" grocery which replaced the "super grocery" which had replaced the "premier" grocery which had replaced the ... Originally the store was modest, but it has been upgraded and remodeled and altered at least 20 times.

The entrance has been moved to the center of the front. The lighing is much brighter. The aisles are much narrower, and the merchandise is stacked much higher. They border on the claustrophobic. I kept having this vision of the shelves suddenly collapsing, and I'd find myself buried under a couple of thousand boxes of breakfast cereal.

I snapped up a package of stir-fry shrimp containing shrimp, veggies and sauce. This was most unusal for me, because it meant I would actually have to C O O K! You think I'm joking. I can assure you I'm not. I can not remember the last time I used one of the burners.

There are reported to be cultures that lack certain words in their language. Certain tribes along the equator have no word for snow. The Navahos have no work for freckles. This is sorta the way I viewing C O O K I N G !

Once home, I threw caution to the wind and twisted the knob to high. And lo there was heat and flame. And a sauce pan and a tablespoon of olive oil. And the cats were mystified. "What in the fuck is he doing?" And the end product was most excellent. I need to be sure to mark this day on my calendar. I wonder if I can get a rubber stamp that prints out a tiny stove.

PAX!
