contours provocations
journal - 2003-0926 - 2200 Super Supreme Zircon; BBC3; Pixies A stiffling week it has been. The reworking of the corporate web site continues. We have a new domain name, BUT it may or may not work. I have yet to have it work from home. I type it in, and my little computer skips down the net and winds up in never-never land. And I don't mean Mickey's ranch. After two weeks, I've finally gotten the national federation of which we are a part to change our logo on their site. BUT I can't get them to change our old moniker to the new one. Several months ago, a web policy was established. A policy to determine what and how info should be posted. Many individuals provided input. A check list and a submission form were developed. Between then and now, the agency has hired several new staff members. But no one bothered to tell them about the policy. That to me is the responsibility of upper management. And it pisses me off to have folks complain to me because they didn't know about the policy. And then there's the whole business of people not understanding what software will or will not do. "I've got this document that I've created in Super Supreme Zircon, and it only has 23 full-color graphics, and is only 45 meg, and I need it on the web to meet a 1:30 deadline!" Super Supreme Zircon may be a program designed to print stencils for putting down stripes on the Interstate. Makes not a bit of difference, I've decided that in the future I will not say a word. BUT once the person is gone, I'll jerk out the phone book and look for a hit man/woman. It's always cool to find something that proves rewarding. At work, I've been listening to classical music on the web. And I want a streaming format that is high quality. Many are not. I've checked several sites that offer a listing of classical music sites. And visited and tried out many sites. Possibly the best overall choice is BBC3. It manages to be classy without being stuffy. In looking at their pages, I discovered a section that provides an analysis of approximately 100 or so major works. And the pages have given me a much better understanding of the intricacies of a piece. When I got home this evening, I locked the car and headed for the steps. And on the steps was a black kitten. A kitten that I'd not seen before. Then I noticed the two that I have seen before. All three immediately went into a panic and tired to scamper under the house. Two darted through the wooden lattice work that runs across the back. One tried to wiggle through an opening, could not make it, pulled out and darted through a larger space. These little creatures fascinate me. I keep thinking of pixies. And I feel there is some reason they are here, One that I have yet to grasp. PAX!
