Web Worries; Yards of Yards; Erotic S/M Dream

Is it really Friday? A tiring week it has been.

I've been spending lots of time of late exploring the capabilities of a certain web design package. (The first word is what a thought is called when you're asleep. And the second word is used to indicate a person who makes cloth using a loom.) The package can best be described as a "what you see might be what you get on a really good day but don't bet on it."

A very powerful piece of software. But it has some definite quirks.

I've always hand coded web pages. Or at least copied a prior page and added new content or adapted it for a different purpose. One of the advantages of this is that you have total control over the code. I've also tended to keep the pages simple. And the advantage of this is that a page is more consistent across browsers and quicker to load. Users of a web site want CONTENT. And they want it FAST.

The way in which code is created by the software sometimes puzzles me. I think there is an underlying logic, I'm just having trouble understanding it.

I've never had a single request for more examples of javascript to be present on the web site. Javascript, java, applets, etc. can add neat features to a site. BUT you never have any guaranty of success. For that matter, plain html may not translate the way it should from browser to browser.

Where I work has been undergoing a corporate identity restructuring. Part of this is a re-vamped web presence. So some outside consultants created a new identity and look for the web site. The new home page has several javascript and java applications. Which may or may not work. On the latest IE inside the firewall, it looks one way. Outside the firewall, it looks another way. On the latest Netscape, it appears differently. On older browsers, it looks like crap. And most of this is due to the way the browsers interpret the java script.

Almost every day since the middle of last week, I've been doing a little each day to clean up the yard. Note I didn't say lawn. A lawn involves grass, and I have very little of that.

In the process, I'm trying to make sure I don't have an allergic reaction. So far, so good. Everything looks very parched. Rain would certainly be nice.

Last night I had a curious erotic dream. I was in a deserted office building at night. I turn a corner and at the end of the corridor is a young man in the nude. He's looking at a bulletin board. My line of sight gives me a profile view of his body. I can clearly see that his cock is thursting forward but is not erect.

As I walk toward him, he turns and smiles, and I realize I know him. And he appears to know me. But I can't remember ever having thought of him in a sexual way. My feelings are a mixture of surprise and curiosity.

He makes a comment about how he figured his time was near, so he decided to go ahead and take his clothes off. I know that this has something to do with an inititation or an erotic adventure. Something he signed up for. But I can't remember the details or why he is here.

He seems completely unselfconscious. And I sense that he's interested in me. As though whatever the event was, it is no longer as important. He appears to be hoping that I will give him a command.

But then I feel myself becoming him. I'm no longer me but him. Yet, at the same time, I'm aware of this.

What happens next? I don't remember. But it does remind me of a story I read in Drummer. In the near future, time travel has become possible. A leather guy is out walking but is suddenly seized by a man in a leather mask. Who is quickly joined by another man in a mask. They proceed to subject him to a series of s/m trials. And he begins to wonder how they can know that each trial involves one of his fantasies. Finally, they stop, and both men remove their masks. And both men look just like him. One says he is him from one week in the future. And the second says he is him from two weeks in the future. Certainly a very clever idea. And one that speaks to the fantasy of being both subject and master at the same time.

PAX!
