contours provocations
journal - 2003-0909 - 2100 Where am I? Where am I? Yo! This looks familiar. Dog? Fog? Hog? Log? Bog? Oh, yea! Blog! Last time I wrote I was recovering from a prostate infection. Usually these kinds of bugs linger and linger. But amazingly enough, it was gone fairly quickly. And the aftereffects were limited. And for some reason, I stopped blogging. But I don't remember exactly why. One thing slips into another, and soon it's six weeks later. Last week I received an official notice from the city to clean up my yard. Picky! Picky! Picky! Just because it has not been cut in a few weeks. Or is it months? It looks worse than it is. Lots of weeds. But then it has always had tall weeds. The soil is too sandy for grass, so the weeds take over. I must admit that for the last month or so, whenever I look out, I keep thinking of the "Day of the Triffids." I tried immediately to find someone to mow it. To no avail. On Saturday, I visited a friend whose yard looked freshly cut, and I asked who he had used, and he gave me a card. I call the number on the card this morning, and the workers said they could meet me at home. I left work, darted home, did not see anyone, called work to have a co-worker read me the number again. Call them again. And after ten minutes of utter confusion, I finally saw the workers. I paid in advance and hoped the job would get done. When I got home after five, the yard indeed had been cut. But it looks a tad ragged. But at least it's mowed. I can slowly work on raking, bush trimming, branch cutting. Now if I can just remember where I left my machete. Earlier I watched a documentary called "Clear the Skies." A minute by minute examination of the events of 9/11 in terms of air traffic. Very, very scary! Over 4000 planes were in the air at the time of the attack. All were grounded within a few hours. Some of the info in the documentary was familiar, but much was new. I read on-line that remains were found this week on a scaffold of a nearby building that had been closed since 9/11. And new footage from a Czech construction worker has surfaced. It's the only tape of both planes hitting the towers. And only the second footage of the first plane. PAX!
