Robbers and Electricians; X Men; Guys of the Week

I scribbled notes Saturday while I lingered at the laundry with the intention of transcribing them later. But I dillied and I dallied, so it never got done.

Most of the notes dealt with the attempted robbery of a friend. He said he was really tired when he got home Thursday, so he plopped on the bed and dozed off. Later, he woke up, wandered into the living room, and found two guys standing there. He yelled at them, ran back to the bedroom and called 911. The police responded within minutes. When he went back into the living room, he realized the guys had kicked in his front door. From past experience, I've learned that door frames are very flimsy, only a thin piece of wood.

He said he spent Friday talking with the insurance company, and contractors and electricians. When a contractor arrived, he said that both the frame and the door would need to be replaced.

An electrician came out to give him an estimate on putting in a security light on his front porch and gave a figure of $950! I told my friend that next time he was robbed, he should scream out, "You're in the wrong line of business. Have you thought of becoming an electrician!"

Sunday afternoon, I drove into the next county to see "X Men 2." (Oddly enough, there is not a single movie theatre inside the city limits. All the theatres are in suburbia.)

Every bit as good as the first. More action. And I liked the cast. High Jackman is the perfect Wolverine. Gads! What a sexy man!

Alan Cummings also pops up, literally, as a teleporting creature named Nightcrawler. The first costumed character that I know of whose persona is based in devote Christianity. His "skin" is covered in scarifications. He says each one was done in response to a sin. Certainly, a different strand for comic book heroes.

I've noticed that several sites have a guy of the week page. So I've decided to start one. See Guys of the Week.
