The Winds of March; Loopy; Beautiful Boy!

February seems to have come and gone with a whopping three web entries on my part.

Ah! But now the winds of March are upon us.

As I wrote "winds of March," something suddenly pooped into my skull.

As a kid, I was fascinated with music from the 30s and 40s. One song that I was struck by was "These Foolosh Things ... Remind Me of You." I loved and, still do, all those wonderful images it conjured up of a great city and a great romance.

"A tinkling piano in the next apartment..."
"The Ile de France with all the gulls around it..."
"The sigh of midnight trains in empty stations..."
"The park at evening time when the bell has sounded..."

"The winds of March that made my heart a dancer..."

(I never known there to be a definitive set of lyrics. Items were added and subracted to suit the fancy of various artists or situations. Sorta like Cole Porter's "You're the Top.")

I've got to look the song up on the Net. I've forgotten what it was from.

I have to squeeze in another "winds of March" quote here. This one from Shakespeare's "The Winter's Tale."

"Daffodils,
That come before the swallow dares, and take
The winds of March with beauty."

My first encounter with this quote was when I was watching a late 60s movie, "The VIPs." With Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. The movie relates the stories of a number of passengers stranded at an airport. One of the passengers is the wonderful Margaret Rutherford, who has to be one of my all time favorite British performers. She is the owner of a grand English manor that may very soon have to be put on the auction block due to financial problems. At the very end of the movie, someone tells her that a movie studio wants to rent the manor for a major production. She realizes she'll be able to save the house, and she quotes the lines.

I guess I'm feeling a tad loopy this evening, because I went to the clinic this morning with a sore throat that kept me awake all of last night. And the nice doc gave me prescriptions for an antihistamine / decongestant, a nasal spray, an antibiotic AND pain pills! So I took a pain pill around five, and first time in about three days I feel semi-civilized. And slightly loopy. But a nice kind of loopy.

The down side was the cost. $45 for the visit, and $90 for the drugs. Oh, crap!

Sunday night saw the premier of the third season of QAF. And a delight it was. I'd lost interest last season. But this was worth the wait.

Justin has taken up with his new boyfriend Ethan. And what a wonderful couple they make. Far sexier than Justin and Brian. Actually, the shots of Ethan's ass were worth the price of admission. What a beautiful boy!

PAX!
