contours provocations
journal - 2002-1003 - thu 1900 Hurricanes; Furry Friends Hurricane time again. Although Lili started as a much stronger storm than last week, it weakened as it approached land. And it is more to the west that Isidore. Although there has been some rain, it was/is nothing compared to last week. I'm not sure what Lili did to New Orleans. Of course, how New Orleans survives anything is beyond me. Since on the average, is is ten feet below sea level. The first couple of time I heard this, it didn't make any sense. But then I realized if you're at the cathedral, you have to go UP steps to see the river. A bizarre feeling. Last week as Isidore headed inland, I thought of New Orleans. And then I began to wonder how does a city get to be below sea level. Maybe if it's inland, I could see how that could happen. But New Orleans is more or less carved out of swamp and the river. If you remember the last couple of times I've been to Walgreens, I bought some cute little fluffy animals. I was compelled to go again to pick up some decongestants. And as I passed the bin of creatures, I could hear them calling out to me. Hence I walked away with a tiny koala and a minature polar bear. Rather than take them to work as I did the others, I brought then home. So they now both peer out from inside a basket on my sofa table. Is there a 12-step program for a compulsive buyer of furry critters. "My name is X. And I'm a compulsive buyer of furry creatures." "Hello, X!" I can not serve two masters. "Push, Nevada" calls! PAX!
