contours provocations
journal - 2002-0405 - fri 2130 "Gandhi would strangle her!" In the movie "Ruthless People," Judge Reinhold and Helen Slater kidnap Bette Midler who is one foul-mouthed, cantankerous, difficult lady. Short of murder, they're not sure what to do with her. In one scene, Judge turns to Helen and says, "She's not exactly Mother Theresa. Gandhi would strangle her." Suffice it to say, that sorta sums up my view of the past week. "Gandhi would strangle her!" I talk, but people do not listen. I write memos - which people don't seem to understand. I work, stay late, come home, and wonder what did I achieve. Allow me to whine about the weather. Every night this week has been, not just chilly, but downright cold. But is it not spring? Flowers blooming and all that stuff. Warm breezes. It may be but not here. And where is the rain? The gentle rain that drops from heaven. Maybe tomorrow? At least, this evening is quiet. The not-so-distance rumble of the Interstate. A tiny gurgle from one of the cats. The sound of a slammed car door. The creak and crackle of the floor furnace. No more tonight! PAX!
