contours provocations
journal - 2001-0404 - wed 2300 Lunch; Dinner; Very Taxing Taxes; To Record or Not To Record; Wild Sex on the Roller Coaster At lunch today, I again visited the new Japanese restaurant. And I do believe the food was better than it was Monday. But the oh-so-adorable man at the door was not at the door. I'd looked forward to slyly glancing at him in the glass case at the sushi bar. This evening I had dinner with a friend, and the food was good, but not as good as the Japanese place. We had one of those rambling, stumbling conversations that people have. I tried to explain my Freudian view of Sunday's QAF. I've yet to figure out exactly how to articulate what I want to say. And he told me about last night's "Fraiser" with Derek Jacobi. It sounded hysterical. Which I missed because I was busily engrossed in the "Making of Cleopatra" special on AMC. This morning I printed out my income tax forms that I'd completed Monday. I immediately spotted an error. So after I had dinner this evening, I spent a couple of hours trying to decide how to file an amended return. After much to-do, I discovered you can not do it online. So I finally gave up. I also discovered that if you file online with the state, they also require a signed hard copy. Some how the logical neccesity of this escapes me. Before going to dinner, I'd set the VCR to record a "Great Performance" episode about Elizabeth Taylor. But I got one hour of electronic noise. Nice noise but still noise. My problem results from having digital cable which requires a certain sequence for timed recording. A sequence which I'm having problems with. I think I may have turned off the digital cable box which was a mistake. I glanced at the personals at Yahoo earlier. So many of the ads are a notch above sleeze. Totally devoid of any sense of romance. I may want wild sex on the roller coaster, but I also want roses and moonlight. But I definitely seem to be in the minority. PAX!
