To Spring or Not to Spring; Flock Swirling; Warren; Queers Writing; Angels Unawares

What happened to spring? It is doing a good job of staying hidden. Yesterday and today, it has been windy, overcast and chilly. Not very spring-like at all. The first thing I did when I got home this evening was to turn up the heat.

For the last couple of days, I've looked for the pigeons along the Interstate, but they're not roosting on the concrete beams as they were. Monday I noticed a worker spraying along the narrow strip between the frontage road and the embankment wall of the Interstate. I assumed he was trying to control the weeds, but he may also have been trying to banish the pigeons.

Today, I saw a flock swirling almost in unison above the metal utility poles that are near where they were roosting. Withing seconds they had swooped down and landed on the power lines. There appeared to be a hundred or more scattered up and down the cables.

Last night, I watched "First Years" for the first time. I noticed when it started a few weeks ago but had not paid it much attention. Then I read somewhere that is was based on the British series, "This Life," which I'd watched recently on BBC America. Earlier last evening, I read an artice in the latest "OUT" about Mackenzie Astin in which it mentioned he played a gay character in "First Years." So I decided to give it a try, and found it to be fairly interesting. And I definitely like the Astin character who happens to be named Warren. As the program finished, I made the connection and realized that was the name of the gay character in "This Life."

From what I saw, there was no reference to orientation. So that story line may be forthcoming. The preview for next week showed an appearance by Patty Duke as Mackenzie's mother. Of course, she is his mother in real life.

My! My! I clicked over to BBC America, and there is "This Life." What a coincident. Warren was certainly my favorite character, followed closely by Egg. Beautiful roles. I'd almost forgotten the many tiny details in the series. For some reason, I especially enjoyed the scene in which Warren meets a guy at a bar, goes home with him, and then wakes up to find him dressed in a coppers outfit. ("Wakey! Wakey!)

I need to update the list of journals I read. One that I've discovered and find both stimulating and titillating is Queer Scribbles. His entry of 03/25 was especially significant.

Another that I've encountered is Boy-Ashamed who has within the last week come out to his parents. A very trumatic experience for him. His mother appears to be grief-stricken.

And to a friend. "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."

PAX!
