contours provocations
journal - 2001-0313 - tue 2000 Bane of My Existence; Pitter Patter of Hail; Media Notes Saturday, I began to feel odd. At first, I thought it was another bout of sinus/allergy. Sunday, I had a headache, felt dizzy and wanted to sleep all day. That evening I figured out it was not sinus but gastrointestinal. Several years ago, I discovered there was a connection between allergies and gastrointestinal incidents. In more general term, the connection is between allergies and any air-borne pathogens. The allergies weaken your immune system, so you become far more susceptible to any contagion. And the most prolific are those that are air-borne. So much for the origins of the bane of my existence I've noticed that all illnesses affect brain chemistry and distort reality. This is by far the most pernicious of the effects. Because you think one thing may be happening when in actuality, another is. Last night I was seized by a compulsion to retrieve something I'd given to someone years ago. I was prepared to drive many miles to get it too. Totally irrational and most likely fruitless. But a very nagging impulse. And disturbing. Today, I stayed home and went to the doctor before noon. So now I'm fortified with an assortment of drugs to take to prevent nausea and acid reflux. And I must remember to take my anti-depressant, which I'd stopped because of the nausea. Sunday night around 3, I was awakened by the pitter patter of rain. But then I noticed, it sound unusually strong. And after a moment or so, I knew it was hail not rain. My guess was pea-sized hail. I then tried to decide what to do about my car which was parked in the open. I have a thick plastic cover, but I also knew it might be too late. After a few minutes, the hail stopped. When I checked from the window the car appeared to be fine. This was a great relief. About ten years ago, a storm hit one afternoon and decimated thousands of cars, breaking windows, and in many cases totaling the vehicle. This was when I lived in an apartment with access to a covered carport. By a stroke of fate, I'd come home early, and my car was safely covered. According to something I read, it looks like "Roswell" will be back for a third season. Earlier, I'd read it was cancelled. I did notice that WB is airing "Gilmore Girls" in its place on Mondays. Elsewhere I read that Showtime has requested another 30 episodes of QAF. Certainly a very positive sign. When it started I was amazed at how many negative comments I came across in journals. Now, I'm amazed at how many people mention watching it. Speaking of QAF, it is coming up shortly, and I need to record it since I missed it Sunday. I was too busy throwing up. PAX!
