contours provocations

One of the topics of conversation at Saturday night's dinner was relationships. Not relationships of the causal kind, but those of a more substantial nature. Although I've tried a number of approaches, I've not been able to meet anyone with whom I felt a certain "click." I guess I'd define that as some type of mutual attraction at some level, some interests in common, and a sense of excitement. Among my difficulties is that I never feel apart of anything. I don't feel that I fit in. Or I feel very self-conscious and dorky. Bars are out for me. By their nature, their aimed at a young, gregarious audience. Several years ago, I tried a social club, but I was turned off by the pettiness and in-fighting. So it look likes it's time to try placing a personal again. The last time, I met several people, but there was no chemistry. Maybe kismet will be more kind this time.
I've discovered a new net radio channel - WFMU.org. It appears to have two open broadcast channels in New York plus the net feed. I came across it in a list in Shift magazine of "top 25 net radio stations." To call it "free-form" is an understatement. Real music by real dj's in real time with real mistakes. Alas, the playlist is only available the next day. My find for yesterday was "Cripple and the Starfish" by Antony and the Johnsons. My brief web searching indicated they are a gay group, but I didn't have time to look for more info. Some months ago, I'd become enamored of Radio GoGaGa. But it has morphed into a network of multiple channels. Almost every time, I try to make a connection, I encounter problems. And when I do make a connection, it never lasts long. No doubt, it is overwhelmed by its own success. I then found 3wk.com which Shift calls the "unofficial headquarters of the college-rock vanguard." But after a while, I began to notice a certain type of quasi-heavy rotation. But I did buy two cd's because of what I heard - Neutral Milk Hotel for "Aeroplane over the Sea" and The Cure's "Bloodflowers."
When I walked outside this afternoon for a few minutes, I encountered two emerald-colored chameleons frocklicking in the greenery. One was a male who was busy billowing out his throat. The other quickly disappeared into the vines. It is so easy to forget that we live in a world surrounded by so many types of living creatures. On the way home, I noticed a small brown bunny attempting to cross the road. And the pigeons as usual were nesting in the support beams on the underpasses of the Interstate. I even enjoy the crows that caw with supreme assurance from atop utility poles. PAX!
