Unwell; Medication; Rest; Rain

Unwell, Medication, Rest, Rain

As I've said before, I admire those folks who can maintain a journal on a daily basis. I don't see how they do it. I start off with good intentions, but then "stuff" happens, and I fall behind.

Last weekend I was whining about not feeling well. I should have gone to the doctor, because by mid-week, I felt terrible. A dull headache, muscle aches, jumpiness, extreme fatigue. Thursday, I stayed home and went to the clinic around 10 am. It always amazes me what a process it is to go to the doctor. I have to shower, get dressed, drive, sign in, wait, be ushered back, tell my tale of woe to the nurse, wait some more, tell tale of woe to doctor, be examined, discuss options, get prescriptions, return to desk, discuss insurance and payments, leave.

The doctor asked if I wanted the antibiotic Biaxin which works very well. But makes me nauseous and leaves a metallic-like taste in my mouth. (Like you've been out in the parking lot of WalMart licking up pennies from the asphalt.) The last couple of times I've used it, I've given up about halfway through the complete cycle. He then mentioned a shot of cortisone. Two problems there: it doesn't seem to do a lot, and it greatly intensifies my depression. I mentioned that, and he said it was a common side effect. In fact, he said, it can cause psychosis. YIKES! Now you tell me!

Next stop was the drug store at Jitney. I also needed to make a deposit at the bank and do some quick grocery shopping. At least, I was able to do all that under one roof. Shame they do not have a bordello back behind the produce section, then I could cover all my needs in a single visit.

I opted to drop the groceries off at home and then have lunch. All during this, I'm having to force myself to make every step. Finally, around 1:00, I was able to return home and go to bed. And as usual, I was too wired to sleep.

Yesterday, I stayed home all day and did indeed get some rest. And today, I made a quick trip out for lunch, then came back to work on the web pages, then went back out for dinner with friends. Once I was home again, I felt I'd done too much. I need to be more careful in these situations.

It started raining about thirty minutes ago, and I hope it continues for days. I'm sure that it rained only about ten times during the entire winter. Very atypical weather. (Still say it was that A-bomb testing in the '50s.)

PAX!
