As I'm sure you'll remember it's the one in the interdimensional void between the women's restroom and the electrical closet. I looked for the blind cavefish this morning, but they were hiding. The AM was spent trying to get back into my computer. There have been several times over the past months when I've thought that someone was using my computer after hours. Last Monday, I noticed both computers contained similar commands in the Netscape navigation bar. There are a number of undocumented commands that are available within Netscape. One, "about: cache" gives you a listing of all items in the cache. Another, "about: global" gives you a listing of all sites visited. I noticed that these commands had been entered on both computers. If it was something I had done the week before, I could not recall it. I can not absolutely prove that someone has been using the computers, but I thought to be on the safe side, I'd implement the BIOS password function. Which I proceeded to do. When I went to lunch last Monday, I realized that I couldn't remember the password! What I was doing when I entered it, I'll never know. Since then I've not been able to conjure up what I did. Weird, weird, weird! The only thing I can think of is that I mistyped the password when I entered it. Since I was out most of last week, today was the first day to face the task of trying to get back in. Lo and behold, I did not know until this morning that you can reset a jumper on the motherboard, and it will clear the password. I had no idea you could do this. It took about an hour to figure out I had the wrong manual. I had wondered a couple of times why there were two of everything. It finally dawned on me that one set was for the desktop version; the other for the tower version. But it does not say this on the cover, so I thought they were duplicates. Live and learn, one hopes! About an hour ago, I watched the A&E's "Biography" which was on Sal Mineo. Having seen "Rebel Without A Cause" a couple of weeks ago, I was curious to see what the Bio had to say. For some reason. I had thought that Sal had always been aware of his sexuality. However, this indicated that he did not realize he was gay until his mid 20s. I had read that he was one of the first to address gay issues in a realistic and honest manner. His later stage work in the early/mid 70s was considered very daring in its graphic and frank examination of sexual issues. "Fortune and Men's Eyes" with its overt prison rape scene would still be considered a shocker to some. As an actor, he managed to bring a remarkable vulnerability to his characters. Plato in "Rebel" is but one example. There was always a "wayward angel" quality to his roles and his personality. A physically beautiful man with those rich Italian features, "Biography" also indicated that his personality was the same. What a terrible, terrible tragedy his murder was! "Biography" also revealed that his murderer is no longer in prison. I always seem to come away from these productions, whether it be "Biography" or "Rebel" or "Love and Death on Long Island" or "Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss," with a sense of melancholia. Several weeks ago, I can across a brilliant article by Henry Louis Gates on the issue of comparisons "between the predicaments of gays and blacks." It is so intriguing that I've decided to add to the web site. Blacklash? PAX!
