Fox subs "World's Scariest Police Chases" for "Harsh Realm"; SINE project - Search for Intelligence in the Network Executive - "has yet to record the smallest blip on any bandwidth."; discovering Internet audio channel - 3WK; unable to sleep, turned on TV, cinematic find was "Bikini Traffic School."

Wednesday night I was making rude comments about Fox dumping tonight's "Harsh Realm." Admittedly it was not Shakespeare, or Ibsen or Chekov. For that matter, it was not even Mickey Spillane. However, it was vaguely interesting, and the two leads were easy of the eyes. And it certainly had style.

As I write, the replacement is on. What does Fox chose? A probing documentary? No. A scintillating comedy? No. Perhaps, a thought-provoking drama? No, again. Instead, we have - drum roll please - "World's Scariest Police Chases"! Gag! Barf! Double barf!

Most people have heard of the SETI project - Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence. But few have heard of the SINE project - Search for Intelligence in the Network Executive. Although SETI does from time to time pick up unusal transmissions in the higher frequences, the SINE project has yet to record the smallest blip on any bandwidth.

One of the great discoveries of the week was the Internet audio channel - 3WK. If it had not been listed as a preset on the Real Player, I doubt if I would have known about it. The play list centers on alternative, underground, garage, noise rock. Or at least, those are some of the descriptors they use. Although I may have recognized the artist, there was little I was familiar with. But I heard some remarkable cuts such as "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea" by Neutral Milk Hotel, "No Need to Worry" by Folk Implosion and "Strawberryfire" by Apples in Stereo. Recorded music has almost ceased being an artistic endeavor and become a purely commercial one. So having an avenue such as 3WK almost restores my faith.

Last night, or very early this morning, as usual I could not sleep, so I crawled into the living room to watch the telly. Last night's cinematic find was "Bikini Traffic School." It actually makes "Porky's Revenge" seem like "Hamlet."

PAX!
