contours provocations
journal - 1999-1022 -fri 2200 journal | archives | home | e-mail Mother and my father's sister; father; feline tribe; potential of homoerotic additions to sci-fi tv programs Ah! The world seems a tad more organized than last night. And today's entry will hopefully reflect this. Yesterday's entry was done after a long conversations with my mother. I've become her unofficial shrink, so she details the various pangs she is dealing with. But I feel that part of my emotional reserve is leached away in the process. Part of the conversation was about my father's sister who died yesterday. She was a sweet lady, but someone who lived in a mirage of reality. Or that may have simply been her way to deal with the world. If there are angels, she is with them. Another part of the conversation dealt with my father. I still have such mixed feelings about my relationship with him. Lately, I've come to the realization that he must have suffered from severe depression for many years. And I see my behaviour reflecting his. I learned to react in the way he reacted. If there is any topic that is difficult for me to deal with, it is this one. It a very quite evening, and I'm on the couch with various members of my feline tribe. If you've ever noticed, if a cat becomes sick, it immediately runs for the 500-year-old Persian rug or jumps to the tallest piece of furniture in the room. (Or if neither one of those is available, it will try for the space between the cabinet and the stove!) Earlier, Minerva was in the bedroom on top of the chest, when she became ill and managed to vomit onto the base of the nearby floor lamp. Oh me! Oh my! She is the most playful of the lot and will nibble at anything. She loves to gnaw at plastic bags which she must think is some type of grass, but is not good for her digestive system. I watched "Farscape" on SciFi at 7, "Harsh Realm" on Fox at 8 and "First Wave" on SciFi at 9. Each one has a bold, striking lead; although all are new to me. The one actor I'm familiar with is D. B. Sweeney of "Harsh Realm." He was in "Strange Luck" on Fox a couple of years ago. A series that I loved. Very original, very quirky. But difficult to understand. (Notice how well-hidden I kept my libidinal desires. I did not say one word about how multiple shower scenes would enhance the plot. Nor did I mention how much homoerotic story lines would add to the integrity of the drama.) PAX!
