contours provocations

Blue skies the colour of a Renaissance painting. And high up, wispy, tentacle-like clouds of white hemp. The light was laser-sharp, giving each object a tiny almost invisible border so that it appeared to stand out. One of the buildings in the complex where I work is long, flat and divided by several cross corridors with outside entrances set back from the exterior wall. The roof is cantilevered out and creates a long covered walkway from one end of the building to the other. On the outside of the walkway are large, rectangular, concrete planters each containing a gnarled crepe myrtle. As I left work this afternoon, I noticed an extraordinary combination of shadows and light down this walkway. Sunlight hit the crepe myrtle creating liquid-like shade on the wall. A few minutes earlier, the sun would have been blocked by the roof; slightly later, by a another building. Woke up at 2 this AM. Could not go back to sleep. Wandered into the living room, fired up the laptop, and hooked to the net. Decided I would try some new journals. Followed one of the web ring lists and came across several perceptive, literate and compelling. Enough for a Friday eve. PAX!
