The Neptune

How has it happened that I've skipped several days, several times?

Dinner Friday evening was at Copeland's with a friend. Copeland's is a cajun/New Orleans place that from the outside looks almost nondescript save for some multi-colored neon at certain points on the roof. But the inside is very neo-retro-art deco: pink and red wood floors, reddish faux alabaster columns, many series of pink glass triangles, a swooping curved midfloor wall that acts defines the reception desk. It reminds me of a restaurant that used to be on Rampart called Johnathan's. It wall filled with Erte memorabilia and original art work. Sadly, it was not open long. However, it did re-open several years later when Erte himself visited New Orleans. I wonder what happened to it?

As we left, my friends said he wanted to walk across to Circuit City. My first thoughts were DVD, computer, speakers, VCR, etc. Absolutely wrong! He wanted to see a front-loading washer called the Netune that was on sale from the original price of $999. I told him for that price, I could get a little Korean lady who would come in three times a week and do the washing. However, I must admit that the Neptune is one sexy washer - a creamy very light tan body with dull gold-like accents.

Encountered an odd web site today. Each and every page, text included, was done as one large progressive jpeg of between 350-400 K! Could not belive it! Just to bring up one page took around 3 or 4 minutes. And you can't read anything, or make it out, until the whole thing finishes. Very strange!

PAX!
