Judith Hanes
email: jahanes@suscom.net
Bio:

Judith has always enjoyed writing.  She sometimes wrote allegorical essays and short stories for fun during high school and college, but did not write fiction again until 1996.  Since that time she has completed 2 manuscripts and is ¾ of the way through the third.  Her first manuscript, Katherine's Touch, finaled in The Finish That Dang Book Contest in 1999 and in The Daphne du Maurier Contest in 2002. She has enjoyed participating in our local writing group since 1996.

Married for thirty-six years, Judith is the mother of six children ages thirty to thirteen years (three boys, three girls—one daughter died in 2004), and four grandchildren. She worked as an R.N. for several years after she married, then stayed home to raise her family. During the next twenty-one years she volunteered her time as a La Leche League Leader and teaching Sunday school and also completed her Masters degree in Education in 1988. As a La Leche League Leader, she edited, wrote, and published newsletters for several groups and was Area Treasurer for Mississippi/Alabama/Louisiana. She also spoke at several Area Conferences. In 1997, when her husband retired from the Public Health Service, she returned to work. She has since worked as a clinic nurse, a dialysis nurse, and a staff nurse and has taught nursing and psychology at a local college.

Raising a family is always challenge, but even more so when children suffer from various health problems. These last two years has been especially rough, so there hasn’t been as much energy and time for writing, but attending MSRW meetings, RWA conferences, and our writing retreats are always not to be missed events.

June Love
Past President

email:  jlove4her@yahoo.com
Bio: June graduated with a Master’s Degree in Education with emphasis on Social Science, which includes the fields of political science and economics. Writing had always been in the back of her mind, but she’d not pursued it until 1999, when she began her first novel. Two years later she finished that novel, but freely admits it needs major revamping before it can ever be pitched to an editor. Realizing the enjoyment and satisfaction her writing had given her during those two years, she began searching for others who shared the passion of writing. She found that in the members of MSRW, which she joined in 2001.
