Spirit of Sumrall Marching Band

Hi. I'm a band member. My name is Daniel Broom
Our band is one of the best bands in the state of Mississippi.
I play trumpet. My section leader is the best trumpeter in the state!
Does that tell you how good we are?
I'll be working on this page for a while, so visit often, okay?
Here are some pictures of my band instrument and our great band director, Mr. Laird:.

Well, tell me what you want to hear about, and I’ll try to come through for you, okay?
We will be putting on many shows this year, so try to make it to at least one, okay? I’ll put up a list of the times, dates, and what we will be doing.

We are already out of marching season, so you will not be able to see any of that stuff, but we are just now in concert season, so we will be putting on a few good shows, including a Christmas parade.

Some news about band:

Well, we just recently made all 1’s in marching band!!!

We also put on a show at Camp Shelby for Veterans Day.

On the Saturday before, we played music while the people at Veterans Park hoisted the flags. It was cool.

I think that my band director, Mr. Laird, will be able to say a few words on behalf of the band later, and he can tell you about the band better than I can because I'm only a rookie in High School Band.
Soon I will post our schedule for band on this page, but until then I will just tell you a few things.
February 17th we will have our Winter Pops concert.
February 17th-20 we will have guard audition rehearsals
Feb 27 we will have drum major and guard auditions.
Mar 24 JCJC Pre-festival
April 2-5 state concert festival
April 29 Spring concert
I have found out that a few people in band have made it into the lion state band and others are practicing hard for District 5.
We are now practicing student conductors so we can see which will be best to conduct during concert season.
We are now playing The Marriage of Figaro.

That is all the information I have as of now. I'll try to remember to ask Mr. Laird and some senior band members to say some words for each section, but they may not do it, so I will ask some other person in the section.
