UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
BY THREASA DENNIS
This is my opinion about freedom and the United States of the
America. America stands up for what we believe in. After the terrorist
attack and everything I watched on TV and read about the terrorist attacks,
I felt even worse for the people who have lost their loved ones. My aunt
was in the Pentagon that morning it happened. My uncle called her before
the hijacked plane had crashed into the Pentagon and she didn’t answer
her phone. So after he heard about the hijacked plane crashing into the
Pentagon, he rushed over there. After days, weeks, and months, they still
haven’t found my aunt's body. Freedom isn’t as free as you might think.
As teenagers, we have very little freedom. Our parents tell us what to
do. They will not give us any leeway. As an adult, I don’t think freedom
is free. You have to follow a lot of rules. So my opinion is freedom isn’t
free.

“Freedom and the United States”
Written by: Becky Stancel
These two terms do not go lightly together. Freedom is a very strong
issue in our country. Many people don’t take freedom so lightly because
many people lost their lives, so that we might enjoy freedom today.
The very name “United States of America” was first used as one of the
many things we had to do to free ourselves from Great Britain. It was Thomas
Jefferson who named our country while writing the constitution that we
still use today.
We came as one, United, in our great times of need, so that one day
soon we would be able to govern ourselves freely. There were many battles
fought, wars beginning and ending, and many hundreds of thousands of people
losing their lives. Leaving their families, to go to fight in unfamiliar
lands.
“Freedom" and the United States of "America” go very well together
today. These phrases mean a lot to our country. I believe there are still
many people out there who are willing to keep this true and fight the battle
to do so.

Freedom and the United States of America
By Tara Whitehead January 11, 2002
Freedom is truly a blessing sent from God to our country. Without
freedom, the United States of America would probably not be the kind of
nation it is today. We would also definitely not be united. Over 200 years
ago, thousands of patriotic men gave their lives for the hope that their
future generations could be free. Because of those brave men, the United
States of America is a free country.
With God on our side, our nation has become the greatest in the
entire world. I have such a great joy and pride in my heart toward my country.
However, many other countries are not blessed the way our country is. Perhaps
this is why other nations continuously threaten our liberty. The recent
events of September 11, 2001 prove this. I believe that if these nations
want liberty like we Americans have, they should fight for the right, just
as we did hundreds of years ago. I believe this because everyone deserves
to be free.
Today, we still struggle to retain our independence. In this
day and age, it is harder than ever to do this because of terrorists like
Osama Bin Laden. As Americans, we will keep our heads held high and continue
to fight the good fight. I will stand by my country as long as I live in
the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Freedom in the U.S.A.
By Sean Levesque 1/17/02
I feel very strongly about are freedom. With out freedom we would have
nothing close to the America we know today. We would probably be speaking
another language. I like how are country is. You should feel the same way.
If you had asked me this question earlier in the year I wouldn’t
have cared. My whole perspective on freedom changed because of an essay
I had to write. It made me think in a different way.
The first thing that had really changed my mind was probably
because of our field trip to the Armed Forces Museum. I had seen many things
on war before but, nothing like this. The museum made me feel proud to
be a part of this country. It also made me think of how many people died
just for freedom.
Like I said before I feel very strongly about freedom and I hope
we will always cherish it.

“Freedom in the United States”
By Nicole Parente
In the United States, I am so glad that I live here. On September
11, 2001, it was not the pilot's fault that they killed people on the plane
that ran into the World Trade Center or the Pentagon. To me, that date
was a death or life tragedy. We prayed and tried our best serve the United
States.
I have really thought about my changes during the essay I wrote
on “Is Freedom Really Free?” My thought about it was that I realize what
we have been through to get here. We have paid a price for our men to fight
against war. It’s okay if they are in Heaven because God is up there with
them. It just reminds me of people who had died or a family death that
some people really don’t care about them.
My papaw, Mr. James Rembert Powell said, "If they don’t
respect in people in church or in a death family, then there is something
wrong with these people that don’t care about others." I feel a little
worried what Osaka bin Laden has done to our country. To me, Osama bin
Laden should think what he was doing to our precious country. Do we still
have the tragedy of our people in Afghanistan? The answer to that question
is a Yes. Our men in that country are out there dying, and we do care about
them because they are thinking about what we are doing right now and telling
us on the news what is it like to not survive in Afghanistan.
When we went to the Armed Forces Museum to see what
men had done, almost everybody in the 8th grade didn’t think about what
people are going through until they looked or read what happened. Also
at the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall, the 8th grade students really changed
their minds or spirits about how they really should act. Now in their hearts,
they really know about the people who died in wars understand them. I just
wanted people to see what it feels like to go through such a tragedy.
United States of America is going to
be the same country as long as we keep it to ourselves.

Freedom
By Nicole Jones
What is freedom? Every American has it, though we often take
it for granted. Americans
don’t think about what freedom is and how we get it because we have
always had freedom. I think that September 11th’s tragedy has really opened
our eyes.
Our entire country was formed on the idea of freedom. Freedom
is the reason Americans exist, to have freedom at any price. Many brave
men have lost their lives for what some say is just a word. I know differently,
though-- freedom is not just a word, it is a way of life, it’s my way of
life.
I strongly urge you to think about this next time you have a
bad day or you talk bad about our country. Many men and women died for
our freedom and us and they didn’t do it so we can complain.
This is just my opinion, and since we do live in a free country, you
don’t have to believe the way I do, you just have to listen to me. Well,
goodbye for now and have a great day.

Freedom and the United States
By: Mandy Cobia
Freedom and the United States go hand-in-hand. I
think it is that way because this country was born out of a desire for
freedom. The United States' foundation is freedom and God. It's the rock
we stand and what our forefathers fought for.
Another reason freedom and the United States go
hand-in-hand is every battle, war, or fight we have fought has been over,
or for, somebody's freedom. Our country puts freedom up top on our priority
list. We want every country to be as free as we are. We refuse to be ruled
by tyranny and we will help others do the same.
This country was built on freedom. That is what
makes freedom so important to us. Freedom is like the air we breathe in
America. Not any person, organization, or country can take that from us.
We will fight to the death for it, and, in the end, we will win more than
they do.

Freedom and the United States
By Kayla Bolton
The United States of America isn't really free. Yes, we have
the freedom of press, freedom of speech, and others, but does that make
us really free? The answer is, no, it doesn't make us really free. We don't
have as much freedom as you think. We can't do anything we want. We still
have laws & rules we have to follow. If we were really free, more people
would be hurt or killed from violence. If we were really free to do anything
we want, people would get away with murder and drugs would be out of hand.
I think that we should be thankful for what freedom we do have, because
one day it will probably be taken away from us. I am glad that we do have
some freedom. We could be like Afghanistan, and be forced to believe in
a certain religion, & women, you could be forced to hide your face,
and can you think of having no rights at all, that you can't even speak
out in front of men? Just think of living in fear all of your life. To
me, I wouldn't want a life like that, would you? Be glad you have freedom
because in a blink of an eye, it could all be gone.

FREEDOM OF THE USA
By: Garrett Thomas
Well, I have many thoughts and feelings about the
terrorist attacks. First off, it was totally wrong what they did.
Some of the people may have been led into what they did. Also people in
other countries may have thought it was the right thing to do. On the other
hand, most of the people probably thought it was the wrong thing to do.
Maybe some of the people may have been bribed into
doing it, or possibly just to take part in it. Or they may have been told
that if they didn't that they would kill their families, or told they would
have been killed themselves. They may have been told they would go to hell
if they didn't do what they were told. They were probably going to die
anyway.
There were a lot of evil people involved in what
happened. They will all be punished in the end. God is the only one who
can decide whether it was right or wrong!

America
By Chris Lee
America is great! We really are “United States.” In the past few years
I felt that America as we know it was falling apart. But then the terrorist
attacks occurred and led us (as a nation) together .I personally think
what the terrorist did was very ignorant and stupid. Sure, it hurt us as
Americans, but as people it helped us a lot. We now give our time, money,
patience, and few lives just to show that we are Americans and we will
stand for our country no matter what and at any cost. People have shown
their love for this country that we call “America."
Americans have given everything for their freedom no matter what
the cost, even the 4,435 lives that were taken in the Revolutionary War
or the 407,838 lost in World War II. Basically what I am saying is that
we as people of the United States have fought for our freedom and are not
going to give up now, not without a fight. This minor attack has weakened
us but, we will rise again.

Freedom and the United States of America
By: Bryan Williamson
Freedom is not really free, to me. There is a great price to
pay for freedom. This price is all the men and women who fought and died
for our country. There was no better generation. These people were the
generation of courage.
I believe that we are going to destroy the Taliban. We are going
to take bin Laden easy if he would stop hiding. We will have justice for
what happened at the World Trade Center.
