Sherry and her younger sister Denise 1964

My Sister And I

Safe in the arms of Daddy

Secure in the love of Mom

Held close--- by them both

Until in the world we were ready

To fly with wings of our own.

The many things we now recall

Like being helped up from a fall

Or that special after school treat

At our house--- where our friends would meet.

Our house was so clean you could eat from the floors

Why, Mom even aired mattresses out of doors

Our white cotton sheets smelled like a spring breeze

And the floors, Mom waxed with pride, on her knees.

Daddy would work from daylight to dark

But he always had time for play at the park

He had rules that would bend-- but never break

And understood well-- when we'd make a mistake

We're glad for guidance-- now that we're grown

And proud to be children from such a good home.
