Annie's Westie Pages Remembering My Beloved Westie
Page 2

Little Whiskers stole all of our hearts from the beginning including my Dad who by the time I got Whiskers was in his mid to late 70's. My Dad suffered quite a bit with various Lupus related ailments. He had always been a big active guy and these troubles in later life sometimes were depressing for him.
Dad also lost his hearing except for a very little. This was probably the biggest blow of all because he always loved music.

With his hearing aid on he would pick up his mandolin and pick out a tune sometimes, but he couldn't hear the singers on TV or the radio without blasting everyone else out of the house, because it had to be so loud. That is one thing that I know he is enjoying in heaven. However, there was one little white fellow who was always glad to jump into Dad's lap and lick his face while wagging that little upright tail with all he had in him. There always came a big smile spreading across my Dad's face. Whiskers communicated his unconditional love without words .

I think Whiskers was a lot of therapy for my aging and sometimes suffering father. We were there visiting every day so Whiskers spent a great deal of his life around MawMaw and PawPaw. It was his second home.

Only one other little fellow had that effect on my Dad, and that was my little nephew born about 6 years ago. He was always a tonic to my Dad too.

My Dad will have passed away 3 years ago this Sept. 18, 2007. My little Whiskers helped me through the grief of losing him too, in fact he helped my Mom too.

I hope that if such things are possible and admitted by God , that Whiskers is there with my Dad waiting for me.
