Whiskers Flannery fell ill with a respiratory infection and
died unexpectedly in the animal hospital during the night in February 2007.
My only regret is that he did not die at home with all of the people who loved
him so much surrounding him.
He lived to an old age of nearly 104 in dog years
leading a very pampered and useful life. He slept on the end of my
bed for most of those 15 years and I miss his presence more than I can say.
To all of you who have loved a pet as a family member you will understand
how I have grieved the loss of my little friend
.
What extra special little blessings the Almighty gave us.
Little loyal, protective creatures who talk to us in ways other than speech,
sometimes more true and profound than speech.
After reading a book called "
Heaven" by Randy Alcorn,
I think that even this very level headed woman may have come to the belief that
part of the blessings in heaven may be allowing our beloved pets to be there to meet us too.
If the Lord cares so much about the details, as it's so obvious He does, then there is a
real possibility one of those details includes that special kind of joy.
When God created the world He looked at it and said, That is very good!
That included all the creatures God created, not just man.
All creation sings at the redemption purchased
by God's son, Our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
I am looking forward to at least the possibility of
seeing my beloved Whiskers someday again, along with the
many, many friends and loved ones gone on before me.
