Jim Dollarhide - Founder, Director, Cinematographer

Dollar’s story is no penny-ante stuff. He began as a still photographer and decided he wanted to make films. In the beginning he established himself as a sports filmmaker for the NCAA and NFL Films but Jim’s vision was richer. So in 1977, he founded his own compnay, Imageworks, Inc.

Early projects included a wide range of productions for both regional chients as well as the BBC, Shell Offshore, and ARAMCO Services Company in Saudi Arabia.

As a result of these early successes, Dollarhide was able to expand his company to include both video, video post-production, and most recently, SGI computer graphics capabilities. Imageworks is in the largest turn-key production company in Mississippi.

For years, Jim has enjoyed on-going relationships with New York advertising agencies, like DMB&B and television networks like ABC. He’s worked on national political campaigns. Produced long form corporate documentaries for international clients. Won national ADDYS and CLIOS.

In 1994, Jim shot, directed and edited an image-enhancement film for the Mississippi Department of Economic & Community Development, which was recognized internationally with awards including a Golden Hugo in the Chicago International Film Festival to Best Director in the 1996 International Monitor Awards.

Even with his impressive credentials and twenty-five years of successful commercial direction, Jim has chosen to stay in Mississippi, close to his roots. But that hasn’t impeded his progress at all. When it comes to making movies, Jim’s making all the right moves.

Randy Davis King - Director/Cameraman

“The King”, as he is called by the rest of the staff, is never a royal pain. (Doesn’t even drive an Imperial.)

Easy-going. Accessible. Cinematically driven. A technical whiz on Avid editing.

Randy graduatied from film school and immediately ruled, from film commercials to documentary productions.

In 1994, “The King” came to Imageworks, where he has commanded respect with a variety of projects -- 35mm and 16mm productions, and a heavenly host of corporate videos, image campaigns, and PSA’s.

You name it, Randy King has won awards for it.

Bob Bates - Production Manager

Bob Bates is much more exciting than his name would suggest. He initially worked as Imageworks’ staff production assistant (in a medieval sort of way), before rushing full tilt into the position of Production Manager.

To date, this knight in shining armor (in a really evil sort of way), has run the gauntlet from PA to Producer. And worked such gigs - or gigged such works - as ESPN, NBC: “Save our Streets”, and an ABC Barbara Walters Special.

Bob moved further into the 20th Century when he completed the course in Line Producer: Assistant Director/Unit Production Manager with “Citizen Kane” - Tom Kane - at the International Film and Television Workshop in Maine.

So now he’s a Prince of the City. He’s had his Dog Day Afternoons, but he has developed Sense and Sensibility. He can live with Heat, chows down on Pulp Fiction, and is no longer Living in Oblivion.

At Imageworks he manages production resources including our grip truck and stages.

Gregg Wallace - AudioVision Sound Designer

Gregg knows the pitch. And he knows if the sound ain’t right, you’re just whistling Dixie. At Imageworks he runs our AudioVision sound design facility.

He certainly has a lot more than a one-track mind. He has bounced from Mississippi to the West Coast, where he spent six years supporting television and feature productions in a myriad of capacities.

With an extensive background in sound and post production work, Gregg has a level head with a mischievous tweak. He’s the consummate pro.

We like his input. You’ll love his output.

J. Harrison Davis, Jr. - Graphic Designer

An eclectic generator of ideas, John provides the power to design whatever you need in the graphics department.

He’s the self-effacing type, but icon (I can) tell you that John will monitor and optimize your needs faster than a feather drop shadow. And that is pretty fast on our SGI system.

A recent import from Atlanta, John graduated from the Atlanta College of Art and later completed an internship at Pixel Technologies.

He adds a very important layer to the Imageworks post-production group.

Donna Jones - Vice President of Finance and Administration

Vice-President of Finance and Administration at Imageworks, Inc. by day and college co-ed by night, Donna Jones will be eligible to sit for the CPA examination in December, 1996. According to Donna, she balances the tedium of “number crunching” by working in association with interesting industries. The succotash of directors, producers, grip crew, and peppering of ad agency creatives add spice to her life.

Prior to joining the staff at Imageworks two years ago, she was the office manager of a large psychiatric clinic where the day-to-day routine was pretty nutty. (no puns intended-it just happens to be time for lunch).
