THE FIRST CONFERENCE
ON THE LOUISIANA NATIVE GUARDS

April 9, 2000
New Orleans, Louisiana

A conference on the Louisiana Native Guards was held on Sunday afternoon, April 9, 2000, in New Orleans at the Cabildo on Jackson Square. Approximately sixty people attended. According to feedback from the attendees, it was a great success.

Sponsors of the conference included the Louisiana State Museum, Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve, the Department of History at the University of Southern Mississippi, Gulf Islands National Seashore, and Ship Island Excursions.

The next conference is scheduled for June 15, 2002, at Port Hudson, Louisiana. Mark that date on your calendar!
