Prozac Survivor News Archives

Old news. an oxymoron...

1999

4/28/99--With great sadness for all involved, a new link to the Littleton tragedy. The Washington Post reports that Eric Harris had been prescribed a "mood altering drug" last year. Prayers for all involved would be appropriate.

4/1/99--A site with better coverage of the Forsyth case than the newspaper is here

3/8/99--The Forsyth case began Friday 3/5/99. A link to that day's story is here as well as the local newspaper below in the Prozac Articles section. Search on Forsyth.

2/18/99--Added a new section, Other Prozac Sites. These are links to sites devoted entirely to the downsides of the SSRIs. There is information about ongoing litigation (an increasing number of people are asking about in the survivor newsgroup). Also included the links that were under And In This Corner.

2/7/99--Will wonders never cease! I've survived 2 years...

1/23/98--Medscape article questioning the "delayed onset of action of antidepressants." Under Prozac Articles.

1/11/99--A new year, a new section. And in This Corner contains links to the positive side of prozac. Haven't found much. Eli Lilly is the manufacturer and will provide info on the drug in it's very best light. Trial By Prozac purports to be one man's positive experiences with the drug. You'll have to be the judge there.

1998

12/27/98--Adverse reactions in infants (withdrawal and breast feeding) from the Australian "FDA" under Adverse Reactions

12/8/98--And coming in at number 5...The Top 200 Rx in 1997 under Basic Information. Also a good source for product inserts (drug monongraphs). Click on the Alpha list when you get there (at the top of the page) for ease of finding other drugs.

11/24/98--Nothing of substance. Cosmetic changes.

9/6/98--The number one question seems to be "Is (some symptom) an adverse reaction?" I've expanded the About Prozac FAQ to include examples of a quick ways to find the answer. Also in the About Prozac FAQ is an answer to "that strange look" you get when telling others about your experience.

8/23/98--New penpal, Matt.

6/21/98--Links to basic info on the other SSRIs (zoloft, paxil, lovan, luvox, etc.) in the FAQ section at the bottom under Other SSRIs.

6/16/98--Several sources for the package insert under Prozac Basic Information.

6/9/98--From wire.ap.org. Actor Philip Hartman's wife had alcohol, cocaine and zoloft (an SSRI related to prozac) in her toxicology report. Mr. Hartman did not.

6/8/98--First Anniversary of Prozac Survivor Webpage! A year ago today I sat down with shaking hands to try to put the info I'd found into some kind of order... A year later the page has had 17,393 hits (minus the 315 times I've hit it). Whew! What a year...

6/8/98--EDITORIAL My survival has been due to a reawakening of my need for God. So I've added some links to Christian sites in the Recovery Room. My "brand" of Christianity is Episcopal, however the links are to wherever I find information and comfort. At the very least they should take your mind off your own problems for a while. Every minute spent "out of yourself" is a minute spent healing. God's peace be with you...(and please don't be offended if your religion is not included. Just enter your religion into your browser's search engine and you'll find an incredible amount of information and inspiration.)

6/1/98--Glad news. Several new.Pen Pals Includes, Patty, Rachel, Sean, and Susan.

5/22/98--Sad news. The Kinkel and Forsyth cases.

5/8/98--A new Prozac Pen Pal. A survivor's spouse, Marty actually gave me the idea for the pen pals in the first place. He has the perspective of having watched his wife Karie go through adverse reactions and withdrawals.

5/4/98--Added a questionaire. I'm sure there are great information gaps that I've missed. After looking over the site, please take a moment to fill it out. It's mostly check boxes and should take less than a minute to do. Thanks.

4/26/98--New section..Prozac Pen Pals Volunteers who share their story and an email address you can write.
4/26/98--Extensive additions to Prozac Dictionary. This should help when trying to read the sample insert. Also Medscape Medical Dictionary online. Signup is free.
4/26/98..Moved my personal junk into "Survivor Stories." (#4)

4/25/98--FAQ "About Prozac" updates including withdrawal, tapering off, other SSRIs.
4/25/98--FDA Medwatch Homepage Information on ADR's and more.
4/25/98--Quick link to tapering off. at top of this page.

4/21/98--Eculaugh. Good clean religious humor in Fun Things...Recovering

4/17/98-- Withdrawals. A list of anecdotal reports.

3/17/98--A new link to the ICFDA (International Coalition For Drug Awareness). Promises to be a repository for harmful side effects to all dangerous drugs. Bookmark this site.
3/17/98--Added FAQs (frequently asked questions) culled from the email I get. This should help you get immediate feedback to questions.
3/17/98--The prozac survivor show on Geraldo that was bumped last month will be aired this Thursday, 3/19.

3/12/98--Spring cleaning. Rearranged the sections so they are, hopefully, less random. You should be able to go through this page in (more or less) top down order to get the information you need in the order you need it. Added the Read Me First link which should explain this in greater detail.

3/11/98--BusinessWeek reviews Prescription for Disaster linked under Prozac Articles. Some scary stats about prescription meds. But then, we live in a scary world...

3/8/98--Moved the whole site down a level. Remember to reset your bookmarks. Sorry for the inconvenience.

3/5/98--Prozac Survivors 1st Annual Report in Prozac Survivors Recovery Room. Also an attempt to put the links in a more logical order.

2/16/98--Added "Potatoes, Not Prozac" link. A book on keeping blood sugar regulated for mental health. Haven't read it, but I love the title.

2/6/98--Added a new section below. Prozac Alternatives. Diet and herbal alternatives to antidepressants which may or may not work for you. Also a minor rearrangement of the sections. And I dumped the barbed wire header here. At one time my nerves were so shot it bothered me just looking at it.

2/6/98--Personal note: Feb. 7th is my 1st anniversary since being introduced to prozac. I survived! It's been a very strange, painful trip, but I'm confident I'm going to make it. You can too.
